Beginning on March 1st, 2012, the iPoker network will change their rake calculation method from average contributed to weighted contributed.

iPoker regulars have been living in fear for a few months: A change in rake calculation was expected and everyone was waiting for a new Ongame Essence. Luckily, the change in the rake calculation method will be from average contributed to weighted contributed. However, a lot of changes to the iPoker software are planed in the next couple of months and it looks like iPoker will become a network for casual players rather than regs with good iPoker deals.

What is the weighted contributed method of calculating rake?

The amount of rake taken out from the final pot is divided between the players who made a contribution equally. Each player gets credited in relation to the absolute amount of money he contributed.
